Solar1 Monte-Carlo Cup

A year ago, the Nakhimov Company, has decided to organize the world championship solar-powered boats and to hold these races in Monaco, on the high seas. We have registered a promotional company Solar1, and from 9 to 12 July have held a completion in Port Hercule and bay Larvotto - Solar1 Monte-Carlo Cup, which have become the world’s largest competition among this type of boats.

During the three days of exiting competition, 25 teams from around the world, in classes A Class, V20 and Open Class, have participated in the fleet race, the slalom ski race and sprint racing “drag race”. The experienced teams from Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, France, USA, Germany and Russia have been fighting for the champion title, that in the mid-2000s began to popularize this sport, as well as newcomers from European and American universities. Nakhimov Racing Team have competed for the first time in solar boat racing and took 3rd place in the overall team scoring. The first place in V20 Class took the Russian tem Beluga.

Yacht Club de Monaco became the partner of the Solar1, which being a hosting partner organized all “land part” of the competition in the new building, which opened only on June 20. Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the world’s largest companies and brands, including the Boat International, Fairmont, Hill Dickinson, Orsto, Wajer & Wajer, Sun Factory, Enphase Energy, Vripack and others have also provided their support. The media sponsor of the event became the Eurosport channel.
